| Q. |
As a state educational institution, why does Pellissippi State need to raise corporate, foundation and private dollars? |
| A. |
State funding accounts for 51 percent of the College’s total budget. Tennessee’s population continues to grow, technology continues to evolve, and Pellissippi State continues to fulfill the community’s need for a skilled workforce.
|
| Q. |
How great is the need of students for financial assistance? |
| A. |
Forty-two percent, or 3,449, of our students last year received some kind of financial aid. The Pellissippi State Foundation currently helps almost 300 students per year—yet last year an additional 500 eligible students requested assistance beyond the available funds. The need simply exceeds the resources available.
|
| Q. |
I have been a contributor to Pellissippi State through other programs. How does this campaign relate to previous ones? |
| A. |
Scholars Today and Tomorrow and the Partners for Success campaign in the 1990s and the Magnolia Avenue Campus campaign in 2000 were all successful and important to the overall mission of Pellissippi State. Connecting Communities, Changing Lives is equally essential for Pellissippi State to continue the level of education and training our citizens need to promote the economic growth of the community.
|
| Q. |
If I make a personal or corporate contribution during the campaign, will I be asked to give again? |
| A. |
Area community leaders are being asked to support Connecting Communities, Changing Lives. However, they will not be asked to make another major gift while completing their pledge for this campaign. The Pellissippi State Foundation will sponsor several special fundraising events throughout the year, and friends of the College will be invited and encouraged to participate.
|
| Q. |
Is a contribution to the campaign tax deductible? |
| A. |
Yes. The Pellissippi State Foundation maintains a 501(c)(3) status; therefore, a gift to the campaign is considered a charitable income tax deduction.
|
| Q. |
Can I designate my gift for a particular purpose? |
| A. |
Yes. You can identify the project of your choice on the pledge form. Or you can split your gift among two or more projects.
|
| Q. |
Will the campaign accept a multiyear pledge? |
| A. |
Yes. You can give to the College in increments spread out over one to five years.
|
| Q. |
Are there other ways to give beyond cash? |
| A. |
Yes. Your gift to Pellissippi State can be made in several ways other than cash. The Ways to Give card (page) describes a variety of other options for contributing to the College’s needs.
|
| Q. |
Who will know how much I pledge? |
| A. |
Only the campaign leaders and College staff members responsible for maintaining Pellissippi State’s financial records will know the terms or amount of your pledge. And, of course, donors who wish to remain anonymous may choose not to be recognized by name.
|
| Q. |
How will donors be recognized? |
| A. |
Donors who support the Connecting Communities, Changing Lives campaign will be recognized in at least two ways. They will be listed in a donor recognition display in the J.L.
