Pellissippi State offers numerous degrees in a special, cohort-style format; a cohort is a group of students who follow the same set schedule and progress through the program together. All programs can be completed in two years or less, some with an accelerated schedule designed to accommodate the working professional.
AHEAD Cohort Programs
The Accelerated Higher Education Degree Program (AHEAD) is designed to meet the needs of busy adults and working parents who thought the completion of a college degree was only a dream. The AHEAD Program makes it possible for learners to take advantage of two key methods of acceleration: shorter-length courses and credit for prior learning. Degrees are offered in Computer Accounting, Management, Culinary Arts, Industrial Maintenance, Associate of Science in Teaching, and A.S. 41-hr General Education Certificate.
Traditional Path Cohort Programs
Traditional path cohort programs allow students to complete their degree together on a traditional block schedule of classes. Students move through their major as a unified group, which encourages students to collaborate and learn from each other over the course of the program. Traditional Path Cohort Programs foster long-lasting relationships that extend beyond the classroom and provide opportunities for networking and social interactions. Degrees are offered in Associate of Science in Teaching and Associate of Arts in Communication Studies.
Prior Learning Assessment
If you have experience in subjects offered by Pellissippi State, you may be able to gain credit for what you've already learned. It's called Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) and can be achieved through various methods.
