Dr. Wright received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts Education in 1976 from California State College. He received his Masters' in Industrial Engineering Technology/Curriculum from Arizona State University in 1980 and was awarded his Doctorate in Industrial Eduction/Curriculum from Texas A&M University in 1987.

Dr. Wright was hired by Pellissippi State in 1989. Other teaching experience includes:
1989 - Nippon Denso industrial training project C and I
1985 - 1988 University of Tennessee, Assistant Professor, Industrial Education and Industrial Consultant
1980 - 1984 Western Piedmont Community College, Morganton, NC, Industrial Maintenance and Industrial Engineering Instructor, Industrial Consultant
1976 - 1980 Industrial Arts Instructor, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Texas
1973 - 1976 Various manufacturing and industrial maintenance positions
         - 6000 hours Mechanist
         - 5000 hours Operator
         - 5000 hours Construction and Maintenance Electrician
