Inside Pellissippi

Performances of psychological thriller 'Scotland Road' begin October 24

She was floating on an iceberg, all alone. The beautiful young woman, dressed in clothing from 1912, was discovered by Norwegian fishermen—not in 1912, but 1992. After being rescued, she uttered only one word, "Titanic."

Pellissippi State delves into the mystery when it presents the play "Scotland Road," by Jeffrey Hatcher.

The performances take place at 8 p.m. October 24, 25, and 31 and November 1 and at 2 p.m. November 2 in the Performing Arts Center.

The enigmatic young woman is taken to an isolated spot on the coast of Maine, where an expert on the sinking of the Titanic has arranged to interrogate her for six days. His goal: to crack her story, get her to confess she’s a fake and reveal her true identity. His one clue: her references to an unknown place called Scotland Road.

"This is one of the best plays I’ve ever read," said the play’s director, Charles Miller, associate professor of Speech and Theatre. "It's a great piece."

Characters are played by Pellissippi State Theatre faculty member Dorothy Donaldson, Jennifer Loveday, Pellissippi State alumnus James Francis and Pellissippi State student Cassie Hiles.

"It's really the perfect mix of what a community college should have in the show," Miller said.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for non—Pellissippi State students and seniors, and $6 for Pellissippi State students, faculty and staff.
